Whatcom County Home Sales remain slow in April

Last month Whatcom County real estate agents sold 166 homes and condominiums,  an increase of four units from March but down 18 percent compared to a year ago,  a time when two key homeowner tax credits were expiring. The median price last  month for homes and condos sold was $241,750, an increase of less than 1 percent  compared to a year earlier, according to the data from the Northwest Multiple  Listing Service.

One continuing trend is the substantial slowdown in new home listings. Last  month Whatcom County had 409 new listings, down 23.1 percent compared to April  2010
