Whatcom County & Lummi Nation reach deal on Ferry

It looks as though the Lummi Island ferry will be running for another 35  years.

Without releasing any details, the Whatcom County Council and Lummi Nation  issued a joint statement Tuesday, May 17, announcing an “agreement in concept”  on a new 35-year lease for the ferry.

Assistant Whatcom County Prosecuting Attorney Dan Gibson relayed the joint  statement, which says the county and the tribe have reached “an overall  framework agreement that describes how Lummi Nation and Whatcom County will work  collaboratively.”
