Reduction in Speed Limit on I-5

The speed limit on northbound Interstate 5 will be temporarily reduced from  70 mph to 60 mph between Burlington and Lake Samish during construction  beginning Tuesday night, June 14.

The Washington Department of Transportation is repaving the northbound  lanes of the freeway and all on- and off-ramps in both directions. Any time  crews close a lane, the speed limit will be lowered to 60 mph for the safety of  workers and drivers.

The speed limit will be reduced as needed through fall 2011.
